Israelis living near the Dimona atomic reactor were issued pills to protect them in case of exposure to nuclear material. Israeli authorities played down Sunday’s distribution by the Home Front Command of iodine tablets to residents of Dimona and other Negev desert communities, saying it was a precaution and that there was no immediate risk of radioactive leaks from the reactor.
