The composition of Gen. Charles de Gaulle’s Cabinet in France has been received here with satisfaction, though no official comment is forthcoming in government circles. The Council of Ministers, including as it does a number of prominent friends of Israel, is seen here as a promise of continued friendship between the two nations.
Israelis were heartened by the appearance in the Cabinet of such political leaders as former Premier Guy Mollet, who headed the French Government during the Sinai operation, Antoine Pinay and Pierre Pflimflin. The Israelis are also happy to see Maurice Couve de Mourville as Foreign Minister, noting that he served as Ambassador to Cairo and has had considerable opportunity to study the true nature of Egyptian and other Arab leaders.
