Yad Vashem, the Central Jewish Martyrs Memorial Authority, was called upon today to be “more dynamic” in its public reaction to the current wave of anti-Semitic incidents throughout the world. The demand was made at the Yad Vashem’s fifth annual council meeting.
Shalom Holovsky, representing the Association of Former Partisans, asked that Yad Vashem take “active measures” against the current anti-Jewish outbreaks. He was supported in his demand by S. Z. Shragai, member of the Jewish Agency executive, who declared that it would be unthinkable for the organization not to react to the outbreaks. The organization was also asked to publish regular reports on Nazi organizations and on Nazi underground activity.
The Yad Vashem director. Dr. Kubovy, declared in a speech to the council session that the organization had furnished the most important evidence against numerous Nazis in trials in the past and had recently begun “tracking down” additional Nazi murderers.
