Israel’s ambassador to Washington accused the foreign minister of meddling in embassy affairs. Ambassador Danny Ayalon wrote recently to Attorney General Menachem Mazuz to complain about Foreign Minister Silvan Shalom’s decision to cut short the tenure of Ayalon’s assistant in the Washington embassy, political sources said Sunday. According to Israeli media, Shalom was angry at the aide because he failed to secure an audience for his wife, Judy Shalom-Nir-Mozes, with Madonna when the pop star visited Israel last year.
