Israel’s attorney general criticized the spiritual leader of the fervently Orthodox Shas Party for recent remarks he made about Holocaust victims. But Attorney General Elyakim Rubinstein said Rabbi Ovadia Yosef cannot be prosecuted for the comments. Rubinstein also said Yosef’s remarks that the 6 million who perished in the Holocaust were the reincarnated souls of sinners did not befit a figure of Yosef’s stature.
