Attorney General Gideon Hausner flew to Paris recently to complete his investigation of witnesses in connection with the Lavon affair, the 1954 security mishap which resulted in the resignation of Defense Minister Pinhas Lavon, it was disclosed today by Justice Minister Pinhas Rosen in the Knesset, Israel’s Parliament.
Mr. Rosen made the disclosure in reply to questions by the opposition concerning the reason for the Attorney General’s top-secret flight, which rumors attributed to be in connection with the forthcoming Eichmann trial. The Lavon affair is now under review by a Ministerial committee after a recent inquiry revealed that senior Army officers incited witnesses to testify falsely concerning the mishap.
