Israel’s Bank Leumi announced it will formally take over four banks it has acquired in France on Oct. 1. Bank Leumi, which has been active in France since 1972, said it had bought four banks from the Rothschild interests in Marseilles, Strasbourg Lyon and Nice, bringing its outlets in France to six. It at present has two branches in Paris. The new purchase brings to 17 the number of Bank Leumi branches in Europe, with a total of 61 branches outside Israel.
