Israel’s Cabinet approved a plan by its national infrastructure minister, Ariel Sharon, to establish a string of Jewish communities along the boundaries of the pre-1967 borders. As part of the decision, the Cabinet approved the establishment of a new settlement between Beit Shemesh and Beersheba. It also approved the establishment of six new communities along the border between Israel and the West Bank.
