Israel’s Cabinet approved the Wye accord by 8-4 with five abstentions. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu attached a number of conditions to the accord, including a demand that the Palestinian National Council vote to annul the anti-Israel clauses of the Palestinian charter. While the Cabinet voted, thousands of Jewish settlers gathered in Tel Aviv to protest any land transfers to the Palestinian Authority.
