Israel’s chief ambulance service does not have to enter Arab neighborhoods without a police escort, Israel’s highest court ruled. The court rejected a petition filed by the Association of Physicians for Human Rights, which had charged that delays resulting from Magen David Adom’s refusal to enter certain neighborhoods had led to several Palestinian deaths. As a result of the court case, police said they would make providing escorts a priority and Magen David Adom agreed to set up a 24-hour hotline to follow up on any complaints.
