Israel’s chief army rabbi urged blowing up mosques in Jerusalem’s Old City hours after it was captured by Israeli troops in 1967, the Israeli daily Ha’aretz reported. Recently deceased Gen. Uzi Narkiss said Rabbi Shlomo Goren privately urged him to blow up the Muslim places of worship. Narkiss gave the interview to the newspaper on the condition that it not be published while either of the men was alive. Goren died in 1994.
