The economic policy of the Israel Government and the relations between the government and world Jewry were criticized today by two former Cabinet members at the convention of the General Zionists now taking place here.
The two speakers, Joseph Saphir and Joseph Serlin, are both leaders of the General Zionist Party in Israel. Mr. Serlin insisted that the policies of the present Ben Gurion government had actually closed the doors of Israel to immigration from the Western countries because it failed to provide special conditions to encourage such immigrants. Mr. Saphir charged that the Mapai-led government coalition had centralized industry and services in the Histadrut and the government and thus undermined competition.
