Israel Finance Minister Levi Eshkol today declared that he sees no likelihood of further price increases in the immediate future. Mr. Eshkol made his statement to a meeting of leaders of the government coalition parties, which was told at the same time by Minister for Trade and Industry Peretz Bernstein that his office has been under pressure to grant price increases to various producer groups.
The session, which was called to work out a unified stand on economic issues which are likely to arise in Parliament tomorrow when Mr. Eshkol presents his latest economic report, heard the Finance Minister report that the current budget would be balanced by the end of the fiscal year. He said he forsaw no deficit, despite the fact that the worldwide inflation has cut the value of Israeli exports and increased the price of its imports.
