Israel’s greatest shortage today is in scientific personnel, Dr. Joseph Gillis, Academic Secretary of the Weizmann Institute, told a meeting here sponsored by the Jewish Agency’s personnel recruitment department.
Dr. Gillis estimated that Israel had one trained scientist to every 2,500 inhabitants, as compared to one for every 800 in Britain and an even higher proportion in the United States. He reported that there was a need for highly skilled and trained physicists, electronics experts and research experts in marketing and efficiency studies.
