A campaign against smoking is being planned by the Israel Health Ministry for the country’s schools, it was announced here today at a meeting of the Advisory Health Council which was convened to discuss the formation of a Council subcommittee on cancer. Plans for the campaign are now being worked out together with the Ministry of Education.
Also planned is the initiation of further measures for the organization of preventative services and early diagnoses of cancer. About 40 percent of Israeli cancer cases were revealed by early diagnosis and about 25 percent proved curable.
