Israel’s Independence Day celebrations next week will focus on the Knesset as a “symbol of democracy and sovereignty.” The April 21 commemoration marks the 50th anniversary of the creation of the Israeli legislature. One day earlier, Israel will mark Remembrance Day for its fallen soldiers. That day will be marked with the sounding of sirens in memory for those who fell in defense of the country, as well as with gatherings at military cemeteries and memorial sites.
