Israel’s Independence Day was widely observed in Argentina. Israeli Ambassador Ram Nirgad spoke over national broadcasting, and later placed flowers at the monument to the Argentine national hero, Jose de San Martin. He later hosted a reception at the Israel Embassy attended by Argentine officials, members of the diplomatic corps and political personalities. In the evening, a special concert was held in the Municipal Open. House under the auspices of the Buenos Aires Kehilla. Israeli pianist Ilan Rogoff played Beethoven and Chopin. The municipal radio broadcasted the event. Many Jewish institutions organized special celebrations.
