Israel’s Knesset dedicated a day to honoring the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee on its 90th anniversary. The Knesset on Tuesday launched a cooperation panel to help advance JDC projects in Israel. The JDC currently provides about $40 million a year for social and humanitarian programs it runs in cooperation with various Israeli government ministries, and most Israeli municipalities benefit from JDC programs for the elderly, children or new immigrants, according to Amir Shaviv, JDC’s assistant executive vice president.
