Israel’s Knesset passed legislation intended to block Conservative and Reform representatives from serving on local religious councils. The bill, approved in its third and final vote by 50-49, requires the religiously liberal representatives to accept the rulings of the Orthodox Chief Rabbinate before taking their council seats. Reform leaders said they may seek court action to challenge the law.
