Israel’s newest and largest passenger liner, the German built “Israel” docked at Haifa today with 257 passengers and a cargo of 4,000 tons of German goods, which like the ship itself are reparations payments.
The entire port was lit up as the vessel was docked in the early morning hours by three tugs. Both the ship and the port were decorated with flags in celebration of the arrival of the vessel which will become the flagship of the Israel merchant marine.
