Israel’s “overland Suez Canal,” a pipeline for the transfer of oil from the Red Sea to the Mediterranean, was completed here today with the hauling into place of the last section of the 32-inch pipe at tie water’s edge at Haifa Bay.
The last section will enable the crude oil pumped from the southern port of Eilat, to be loaded onto tankers in Haifa. It was learned that, in readiness for the completion of this project, Israel has already sold large quantities of crude oil to purchasers in Europe.
