Israel’s readiness to negotiate for peace with the Arab countries was reiterated here last night by Col. Nachman Karni, member of the Israel Mission to the United Nations. He addressed the 34th annual convention of the Mizrachi Women’s Organization held at Breakers Hotel. The convention was also addressed by Edward B. Lawson, former United States Ambassador to Israel. Mr. Lawson, who received the 1959 America-Israel Friendship Award, paid tribute to the resolute spirit of the Israeli people.
The convention sent a telegram to President Eisenhower recommending “total and complete disarmament of the Middle East as a great initial step forward in the direction of complete and total world disarmament.” Mrs. Moses Dyckman, president of the organization, addressing the 1,000 delegates, cited the unique role of the People of the Book, and called for identification with the rights of all human beings to live in freedom and dignity.
