Israel’s population has grown by 1.8 percent since last Rosh Hashanah. Some 6.7 million people live in Israel, of whom 5.1 million are Jews, according to the Israeli government. Some 27,000 new immigrants arrived in Israel during 5763, a drop of 7,000 from the previous year.
