Israel’s prime minister called the Palestinian Authority president-elect Tuesday to congratulate him on his victory at the polls. According to Israel’s Army Radio, Ariel Sharon and Mahmoud Abbas agreed to stay in contact and to meet in coming weeks. Israeli President Moshe Katsav and Vice Prime Minister Shimon Peres also called Abbas to congratulate him.
