The Soviet Union must be considered as much Israel’s enemy as Egypt, Premier Golda Meir told the Knesset yesterday, confirming that she had made such a statement in an interview with New York TV station WPIX. Replying to a question from Uri Avneri of the maverick Haolam Hazeh party, she said Soviet arms were flowing to Egypt in “tremendous quantities” even though the Soviets know they are meant for Israel’s destruction. She charged also that Soviet military experts were serving in Egypt, advising Egyptians in their “aggressive policy.” She also said that the Soviet Government was making announcements hostile to Israel.
