Israel’s public security minister, Shlomo Ben-Ami, said he would meet with fervently Orthodox religious leaders in an effort to end recent protests against Sabbath traffic on a Jerusalem thoroughfare. Complicating the situation, Ben-Ami said Monday, the demonstrators were not heeding the calls of their rabbis to stop the protests.
