Israel’s state attorney asked police to investigate whether letters President Moshe Katsav received from Margalit Har-Shefi regarding her amnesty request were forged. The Israeli daily Ma’ariv reported that even if the letters were not signed by Har-Shefi, it would not affect the president’s decision to commute her nine-month sentence for failing to prevent the assassination of Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin.
