Israel’s Supreme Court today rejected an appeal by El Ard, a nationalistic Arab group, which a Haifa District officer had refused permission to register as a legal public organization.
Upholding the Haifa ruling, the high court stated that El Ard, which had heretofore been an underground organization, aims its activities at undermining the security of the State of Israel.
The court noted the fact that El Ard had cited articles in the Arab press published outside Israel, calling the Arab countries “the spearhead of a free Palestine.” “It would be unwise,” the high tribunal ruled, “to use the democratic rules of the State for the undermining of the State’s forces.”
