Israel’s Supreme Court called on the government to explain why it has not yet brought to Israel thousands of Ethiopians claiming Jewish ancestry. The Nov. 13 decision demands that the Israeli government and Interior Minister Avraham Poraz submit a detailed explanation, within a month, of why the government hasn’t implemented a February decision to determine the eligibility for aliyah of thousands of Falash Mura, Ethiopians who claim Jewish ancestry, and bring them to Israel, said Omri Kaufman, who represented a group of petitioners against the government.
