A series of high level discussions on Israel’s foreign policy, particularly her relations with the neighboring states, began here this morning in Premier David Ben Gurion’s office.
The Premier presided and Foreign Minister Moshe Sharett and several other Cabinet members participated, as did Abba S. Eban, Israel Ambassador in Washington and its representative to the United Nations. Eliahu Sassoon, the Foreign Ministry’s Arab expert, returned from Turkey where he is serving as Israel Minister, to take part in the talks. Also present today were Army chiefs and various political and military advisors.
Among the vital developments to be reviewed are Israel’s recent requests to the Western Powers for arms shipments and her protests against the resumption of large-scale arms deliveries to the Arab states.
Mr. Sharett, the director-general of the Foreign Minister, the heads of the ministry’s geographical divisions, Ambassador Eban and Mr. Sassoon will also attend a series of discussions at the ministry beginning tomorrow on the issues that will arise at the forthcoming session of the United Nations General Assembly.
