Jewish communal elections will be held next month in Galata, the center of Istanbul where two-thirds of the city’s 37,000 Jews reside, it was announced here today.
The present members of the Jewish communal council have remained in their posts for the last 20 years. It is believed that the elections will bring into the council new and younger elements.
