It is highly likely that Israel will be rocked by a powerful earthquake in the coming 50 years that could leave 5,000 to 10,000 people dead and cause $50 billion in damage. The prediction was contained in a report by an Israeli committee created in the wake of a devastating 1999 earthquake in Turkey that addressed Israel’s readiness to deal with such a catastrophe.
