The administration of Verbania was under fire today from anti-fascist citizens for failing to cover or eliminate publicly displayed mottos from the Mussolini era. The mottos, which are still clearly visible on several walls of Verbania, hail the purity of the Italian”race” and the Italian empire.
Complaints to the city government stress that many tourists from other countries have noticed the mottos with surprise and have expressed curiosity about whether they represent political trends in Italy.
