The Italian Senate has decided to speed up action on consideration of the Italian-German agreement of June 1961 according to which the Bonn Government will pay $10, 000, 000 to enable the Italian Government to indemnify Italian victims of Nazism, many of them Jews, who had been deported to Germany during the Second World War, it was reported here today.
Ratification of the agreement by both houses of the Italian Parliament will empower the Government to regulate by decree the distribution of the funds to the victims or their heirs in amounts proportionate with the time spent in concentration camps. The payments would also make due provision for the heirs of those who died in Nazi concentration camps or from the consequences of their treatment while under detention.
