Italian and Vatican security personnel were disclosed today to be in Israel to supervise preparations for the visit of Pope Paul VI to Israel on January 5.
The Interior Ministry meanwhile prepared a regulation recognizing Megiddo as the official frontier crossing point for the visit, thus eliminating any question as to where the Pope would enter Israel from Jordan.
