A banquet in honor of the newly constituted Italian Pro-Palestine Committee was given last night by the Zionist Federation of Italy.

Under Secretary of Public Instruction, Professor Bodrero, and Deputy Bottai were present as representatives of the Government. Others who attended included many members of the Senate and persons prominent in the civic life of the capital.

Ciro Glass, chairman of the Zionist Federation, greeted the meeting, explaining the task of the committee and expressing the wish that the committee will be efficacious in illuminating public opinion on the reconstruction work in Palestine.

Prof. Lattes, secretary of the committee, discussed the economic and cultural relations of Palestine and Italy. Prince Scalea, chairman of the Pro-Palestine Committee, declared that the Jewish people have accomplished an historical miracle in preserving their existence. He praised the Balfour declaration, saying that what England did for the Jews, Italy views with profound sympathy. Italy, he said, is following the realization of the Zionist ideal with close interest.
