Rumors of anti-Semitism in Italy are causing concern to officialdom in Rome, Le Temps reported today, and the Ministry of Popular Culture has denied that anti-Jewish articles in certain Fascist newspapers in any way reflect official opinion.
Italian officials desire friendly relations with the Jews of Italy and those abroad, the report stated. The Ministry’s statement declared that anti-Semitism does not exist in Italy and recalled the enthusiastic welcome given to Premier Mussolini by the Jews of Libya in his recent visit to North Africa.
