Compulsory mobilization of all Jews in Italy between the ages of 18 and 55 was decreed yesterday by the Italian government, according to advices reaching here today.
The Jews will be used for forced labor and sent to do particularly arduous and unpleasant tasks in various sections of Italy, the reports indicate.
Persons found guilty of violating the new decree will be tried under martial law. The prefects (district administrators) have been assigned to carry out the mobilization.
