Partial revocation of anti-Semitic legislation in Italy is foreseen as a possibility in 1940 by Mme. Genevieve Tabouis, noted French journalist.
Writing in the newspaper L’Oeuvre, Mme. Tabouis points out that a marked change has been observed recently in Premier Mussolini’s anti-Jewish policy and that anti-Semitic propaganda has virtually disappeared from the Italian press. The absence of anti-Jewish agitation, Mme. Tabouis states, is partially traceable to the removal of Dino Alfieri as Propaganda Minister and his assignment as Il Duce’s representative to the Vatican.
