Italy’s act of aggression against Albania “will have very grave repercussions in the Arab world and Islam,” former Syrian Premier Djemil Mardam told Havas. “We who are advancing our claims to independence,” he said, “and who believe that sooner or later we shall come to an understanding with democratic France in spite of temporary difficulties, consider Italy’s aggression a savage act worthy of the Barbarian invasions. We are convinced that this aggression will have very grave repercussions in the Arab world and Islam.”
Meanwhile Moslem societies called special meetings to protest the Italian action.
