Amitore Fanfani, Italy’s Premier, will attempt to arrange a meeting between Prime Minister David Ben Gurion and Col. Abdel Gamal Nasser. President of the United Arab Republic, the Israel dally, Haboker, said today in a report from its Rome correspondent.
According to the report, Premier Fanfani decided to make the effort after his meeting with Mrs. Golda Meir, Israel’s Foreign Minister, last week. He was understood to have told Mrs. Meir that Italy would not look favorably on any Israel action aimed at preventing Jordan’s merger with Egypt or Iraq.
