Mitchell, for an opinion on the question whether it is mandatory under the law for him to issue a proclamation April 1st putting into effect on July 1st the national origins provisions of the immigration act of 1924.
Until the President receives the opinion of the Attorney General, it was explained on his behalf, he has no opinion to offer on the subject.
Senator Nye who introduced a resolution for postponment of the national origins clause for one year at the session of Congress just closed, announced his intention of introducing and pushing legislation at the impending special session of Congress to repeal the national origins plan altogether.
