Measures to unite the Orthodox synagogues of Canada for the purpose of establishing a recognized Rabbinate in Canada to work in conjunction with a commission of laymen to take care of the problems of Jewish education, Kashruth, the arbitration of disputes, were taken at a conference held here. Representatives of twelve synagogues of Toronto were present.
As an initial step toward the creation of a commission for Canada it was decided to unite all synagogues of Toronto into an organized body. A permanent committee was appointed to proceed with organization of the Toronto commission.
