Following a series of discussions aimed at establishing a closer working relationship between the World OSE Union and the Joint Distribution Committee, Abel Shaban, chairman of the OSE, and Moses Beckelman, European director of the JDC, have agreed to set up a survey team to examine the current structure and functions of the OSE Union and to submit recommendations for its complete reorganization, it was announced in statements issued here today.
Both leaders stressed the common aims of their two organizations, and said: “This agreement which we have now reached recognizes the fact that our goals are identical and that we see a working relationship on a world-wide scale. Reflected in the agreement is our mutual desire for improved service to thousands of men, women and children whom we help through our activities.”
Directives to the study group have already been drawn up, it was announced. A special consultant will be designated by the OSE to work on the survey, and the JDC is asking its medical department to provide full cooperation and assistance in carrying out this study.
Submission of the survey’s findings and acceptance of its recommendations by the two organizations concerned will, it is anticipated, provide a basis for possible financial support of the OSE by the JDC, the two leaders stated. The strengthening of JDC’s relationship with the OSE parent organization will also enhance the value of the financial contribution that the JDC now makes to local OSE branches.
