The vitality of the postwar Jewish institutions developed in Europe will depend in the long run on the caliber of the Jewish executives of those institutions, Herbert Katzki, assistant director general of the Joint Distribution Committee, said tonight.
Speaking at a dinner meeting of the first Seminar for Jewish community executives of Europe in session here, Mr. Katzki said that for this reason both the JDC and the Conference on Jewish Material Claims Against Germany considered personnel development one of the major challenges of the coming decade.
He said a great deal had been done in the last six years with the help of Claims Conference funds to reconstruct or build new physical facilities for the aged and children, community centers, schools and synagogues. To assure adequate executives for these institutions, he said, the JDC in recent years had been placing more and more emphasis on such activities as seminars, in-training courses, consultation services and a scholarship program.
