Moses A. Leavitt, executive vice-chairman of the Joint Distribution Committee and Dr. Joseph Schwartz, JDC European director, have conferred here with Premier Jozef Cyrankiewicz and Minister of Industry Hilary Minc. Economic questions affecting the rehabilitation of Poland’s Jews were discussed with Mr. Minc.
During a four-day tour of Lower Silesia, where thousands of Jews have been resettled, the JDC leaders visited Jewish communities and inspected farms, mines and industrial plants where Jews are employed. They later visited Lodz, where they participated in a Jewish writers congress.
A reception in their honor tendered by the government on the eve of the departure for Paris today, was attended by representatives of the Cabinet, top diplomats, UNRRA officials, Jewish leadors and U.S. Charge D’Affaires Gerald Keith.
