The Joint Distribution Committee announced today the opening of a new school for Jewish children in Casablanca with facilities for 1,400 boys and girls. The school is the first step in a program of expanded educational, feeding and medical aid for Jewish children in Casablanca undertaken by the J.D.C. and the Moroccan Jewish organizations.
Moses A. Leavitt, executive vice-chairman of the J.D.C., said the organization, which will spend $2,000,000 on programs in North Africa and the Moslem world this year, hopes that by the end of the year “every Jewish child in Casablanca can have the benefit of decent education in decent surroundings.”
