The Joint Distribution Committee reported today it had helped provide summer vacations for 21, 000 needy children in 15 countries.
In a review of the 1961 summer vacation program, Charles Jordan, JDC director, said the holidays were provided for children in ten European countries–Austria, Belgium, France, West Germany, Greece, Italy, Poland, Spain, Sweden and Yugoslavia. Holidays also were made possible for children in Australia, Algeria, Iran, Morocco and Tunisia.
In each country, the JDC supplemented funds raised from local sources. In the European countries, funds also were provided by the Conference on Jewish Material Claims Against Germany. Tents for the Moroccan program were provided by the Central British Fund.
