Harry Viteles, manager of the Central Bank for Cooperative Institutions has left Palestine for Teheran in behalf of the American Joint Distribution Committee to investigate the situation of the Jewish refugees from Poland now in Iran and to report to the J.D.C. on the possibilities of aiding them.
Jewish refugees from Poland who finally reached Palestine after leaving Russia eight months ago, today sent a delegation to the office of the Jewish Telegraphic Agency here asking that it convey their “deepest appreciation” to the J.D.C. in America for the assistance which they received on every stage of their eventful eight-month voyage. The delegation, reprcsented Polish Jews coming from various refugee centers in Russia.
At a mass-meeting in Tel Aviv today, opening the drive for medical relief to Russia conducted by the Palestine Victory League for Russia, David Remez, general secretary of the Histadruth, announced that the Jews of Palestine are prepared not only to send medical instruments and ambularces to the Russian people, but also hundreds of physicians despite the fact that the latter are needed in Palestine. He suggested that American Jewish organizations send their contributions to Russia via Palestine since these contributions would thus reach Russia much sconer.
