The Joint Distribution Committee has appropriated $1,145,000 for relief of Jews in Europe during the first half of the current year, Joseph C. Hyman, executive director, announced today. The appropriations were made in advance of collections from the J.D.C.’s $4,650,000 campaign.
By June 30 the committee will have expended approximately $542,000 for aid to Jews in Germany and refugee countries and $553,000 for Jews in Eastern Europe, chiefly Poland and Rumania. The remainder will be for administrative and emergency use.
